Long Time No Cook Le

About a month plus ago, mom had lunch with her friends, leaving me and dad at home with nothing to eat and nobody to cook for us. Dad was lazy to go down tabao and I was hungry, and didn't want to eat KFC nor Macs, so I've decided to cook. Found some bak chor (minced pork) and some veggies. Should be enough for dad and me ba.



Fry fry fry...fry my bak chor. Funnily I wasn't so hungry when I was cooking. Maybe I should cook more, then I won't be that hungry all the time!




Fry my bak chor until crispy crispy..and then add egg!! Yeah!! Then become bak chor egg!! I ate the nicest bak chor egg at Old Kallang airport hawker centre the other time with my parents and I have a sudden craving for it, so decided to cook it!



Flip over! *Sizzle sizzle* Cook cook cook...me love cooking...



Doesn't look nice hor? But it tastes nice lor!! Haha..dad and me finished this before the other dish. LoL. Saded cause it wasn't fluffy enough. Not enough oil and heat. Damn. But ownself eat nia, can eat can le. =]



Mummy always says that must eat veggies. Therefore I decided to cook sweet peas and mushroom! My first time cooking sweet peas..or is it french beans? Whatever. LoL. Need garlic, need french beans and mushroom...



Cook french beans first, until more or less slightly softened liao then add mushroom..add a little water, add soy sauce, and a little MSG. As in very very little. Like that then will be sweet. Mummy says one. And it's proven.



Tadah!! Finished product. Doesn't look nice again hor. But who cares. It was a nice meal with me and my dad having 2 plates of rice each. OK end liao. Me go eat tau huay liao..still can't chew. Saded.

The Verdict

As I mentioned in the earlier post, I made my first tiramisu. I tried them today.


The verdict? Not too sweet. If eaten without lots of cocoa powder, it tastes sickening sweet and cheesy. I had a piece...was it sinful!! Cause I know what went in..*slurp*

I let Feng try a portion, topped with lotsa cocoa powder of course. He said it was nice. Yeah! Success! Maybe next time I won't put so much whipped cream or egg whites. It's fluffy. It's not hard like those sold outside, and it's not too runny. It's just...wobbly and fluffy? Maybe next time I'll put 3 egg whites instead. Ok..for the recipe...



This is my recipe..first time do one. Please don't follow mine in case you wana make and found mine not nice. It's try at your own risk.

4 egg whites
150ml whipped cream
200g sugar
500g marscaporne cheese (I bought mine at Cold Storage)
Cocoa powder
Lady Fingers
Irish cream (can substitute with coffee and rum)

Step 1: Whip egg whites and 70g sugar till peak or till sugar dissolves. Put aside
Step 2: Whip marscaporne cheese with remaining sugar and 150ml of whipped cream till thoroughly mixed or till sugar dissolves.
Step 3: Fold in mixture from step 1.
Step 4: Put in refrigerator till needed (I put in freezer)
Step 5: Pour irish cream onto a flat plate and dip lady fingers (about 1 - 2 sec on the sugary side and 1 sec on the plain side..don't want it to be too soggy)
Step 6: Line up the bottom of the container with the lady fingers
Step 7: Get the cheese from the fridge and pour into the container till it covers the lady fingers.
Step 8: Repeat step 5 and line it up on top of the cheese
Step 9: Repeat step 7
Step 10: Refrigerate it overnight.
Step 11: Serve it with cocoa powder.
Step 12: Enjoy

My First Time And I Like It

Today I decided to try doing something. I asked Eugene for pointers on what to do and how to do it. I mean, he was the one who had done it in the first place. He had more experience than me! But I just seriously don't know how to go about doing it. So yesterday, after dinner, I went to buy the stuff needed.



And today, I've decided to make my favourite dessert! Can guess or not huh? Cannot? LoL. Oh yah, did I mention before that the whipping machine..or whatever you called it, is actually older than me? And it is still usable!!



These are the ingredients needed...to make my tiramisu! According to Eugene's recipe that is. But I made a few modification. For one, I used only 4 egg whites instead of 5. And I used 210 grams of sugar instead of 200gram. LoL. And I added 1 tablespoon of irish cream into the mixture...wonder how it tastes like cause I absolutely have no recipe infront of me then. I just kept on doing...



When I saw the recipe a few years ago (YES..I wanted to make this MANY years ago, but just didn't), I saw that it needed lady fingers. My first thought was, huh..such a nice dessert got such disgusting ingredient? Lady's fingers? Sorry...to those who don't know, it's lady fingers, like the one in the picture. Feng went to many supermarkets to search for this during V-day, and everyone directed him to the veggies section. Well, I found my packet at the biscuit section. =P



Of course, the main thing is the coffee + rum or whatever. I used irish cream. Why bother myself to make kopi and add rum or add some other alcohol? Irish cream has both! I no need to waste that much time also. And that container is to put my tira! Yeah!! Hey, maybe I wasn't doing it correctly, but I finished making the tira in 1 hour's time. It's so much faster and easier than my cheesecake!! My recipe? Wait until I try the tira tomorrow first lah hor?



My tira all done! But I didn't attack it straight away cause I want to let the cream cheese settle a little and harden a little first. This is without the cocoa powder. Wana eat then dust! That's what Gene always tell me. =)

After all the preparation, the last part is the part I hate most: CLEANING. Argh! Clever me went to boil a kettle of hot water and poured it all over the bowls and all. It made cleaning so much easier! Ok..back to watching Crunchyroll liaoz....tell you how it tastes tomorrow! *Cross fingers*

Button Mushroom with Garlic

I went shopping with my parents on Sunday, and bought button mushroom. So decided to cook it yesterday. Mom was like huh? How you cook? LoL. Very simple and healthy dish ok!! No preservatives de!!


One of the most important ingrediet, garlic!! DUH! Garlic kills germs ok! I like it small, so I chopped it till it's very small. Looks like alot hor? Actually ok lah. Then will have garlic smell ma.



And of course! Button mushroom! Slice it. LoL. Like shown in the picture. We only bought 1 packet of Pasar Button Mushroom. Too bad Feng wasn't around to taste this.

To cook, just put some olive oil and stir fry the garlic until you can smell the fragrance of the garlic. Then just throw in mushroom and add ground black pepper and salt to taste. How saltish you want, you put. Mom suggested I put oyster sauce. Kaoz. How can!! Then not nice le! I like my mushroom like this.



Tadah! No worries. The mushroom will "give out" water de. So no need to put water. But I put about a tablespoon of water lah. I want the sauce you see. Overall, quite nice! Keke. Mom was shocked also. In the end we ate finish the mushroom! LoL. Nice nice....*drool*

Housewife - Part IV

Sigh. Monday night. Mom and dad coming home soon. Office was a hell load of fun. Boss and manager not around lah. And lunch had became an outside thing. We have lunch outside everyday. Shiok. I am the ahmad, but who cares? I love to drive anyway. =]

Anyway, told Feng to stay home today. Cooked chicky wings and salmon. No veggies lah. Can't finish up all the food. Since tomorrow confirm not eating at home, might as well cook the fish. Tomorrow is our 18 months together!! Yeah! Washed clothes again. Parents coming home, must do everything shui shui (nice nice) for them. Must prove to them that I can actually take care of myself AND the house when they're not around.



My chicky wings! Damn nice! LoL. Except I left it on the stove and went to bathe, so when I came back some were a little burnt. No harm done. Cause the burnt part stayed at the bottom of the pot. Argh. Later gotta wash liaoz.



Yum yum. First time I seasoned a salmon with basil leaves and salt and pepper ONLY. But not bad. Those are not oil. Those are butter. Hungry le ma?



Forgot to take the end product cause I ate finished everything then remembered. LoL. Nice lah I tell you. Haha!


Ok, now gotta go wash the pots and pans liaoz. Sigh. Ownself eat really very kelian. So...Alone. Sigh.

Housewife - Part II

Sat night. Not going out. Cause Feng working tonight. Since Feng's parents were out of town, he came over for dinner. I cooked some simple dishes and he came over at about 6pm. I had finished cooking by then.



Long time no eat fish le. Just fry and add soy sauce nia. Simple simple lah. Only got 1 hr to prepare and cook everything.



Guess what's this? Cabbage lah!! Kaoz. Stir fried cabbage with luncheon meat (leftovers from the other day. LoL). This is during the cooking process.



Tadah!! The finished products. Silly Feng loved this dish to bits. He told me that this is the first time he had eaten luncheon meat with cabbage. I told him this was my first time trying this combination too. His face was like -_-" Haha!! This is nice. Must teach my mummy so she'll cook for me too! LoL.



Looks like normal minced pork hor? Making steamed salted fish with minced pork. Oui..my speciality lehz! But Feng still preferred the cabbage. I preferred this. This is soooo nice lor! My salted fish are all fried before I add it into the minced pork. I don't even have to add any additional seasoning!



It really really tastes delicious. Yum yum! Maybe make it again sometime next month. I still got 2 slices of salted fish left. Who wants to eat? Next time I cook this dish I inform you lah! Who wants? LoL.

After dinner, I washed the plates and served Feng the 泡生菊花 (correct or not huh? Pao sheng with ju hua) I made earlier in the afternoon. He pu zua lah. Then I cleared the rabbit's cage. Again. Especially when SOMEBODY promised to do it on Sat. He gave many excuses. Tsk tsk. Sent him to work and then came home to water the plants. If married life is anything like this, I'll be bored to death. Very very soon. So boring lor! And so many fucking things to do. ARGH! Don't like. I salute all housewives out there man. Oh yah! Still got wash clothes. Piangz. Still must hang clothes, boil water, wash pots and pans. Really faint. Salute salute. Gonna not take my mummy for granted when she's back man. LoL.

Housewife - Part III

Woke up today. So sad. Nobody buy breakfast for me. Feng was working the previous night, so that means I stayed home on a Sat night too. Everyone's so busy with their partners and/or studies, so nobody go out with me. Sad. Anyway, poor Feng came over at 1pm, after an hour's rest, to help me wash car. LoL.

Breakfast was instant noodles and prawn dumplings soup. Weather was very good in the morning...raining. LoL. Means I don't need to wash car? Nopez! Coz the sun came up shortly after, and I psycho-ed Feng to come give me a hand to wash the car. It had gotten very dirty recently. Feng was sleeping when I called him, so he blur blur agreed. While waiting for him to come over, I vacuumed my whole house and even mopped the floor! Very housewife. LoL. Then I checked if my clothes are dry and took them off the hangers. Mine is not bamboo pole one. Never did and never was. Thank God. ^_^
Feng came over at about 1pm, and stupid me, parked under the sun. Meaning, when we wiped the car with soapy water, it dries up. When we wipe the windscreen and the bonnet, by the time we wet the cloth, the windscreen dried up liaoz. *Faint* Had to work fast. Feng kept talking in the Indian accent, pretending to be the Bangala who washes the cars at my block for a monthly fee. Damnn him. I don't think it was funny. Weather so hot, all I wanted to do was hurry wash and hurry go. Finished washing car le went home, then suddenly both my hands sudden outbreak of rashes. Feng was scared to death. He hurriedly went to take an ice cube and went over my arms with it. It scared me too! Then Feng and I slept. Well, he did anyway. I couldn't sleep with him snoring in my ears. =P

I watched tv until about 5+pm, woke him up and we went to have dinner. Went parkway!! Ate Sakae Sushi, damn full. Saw his friend from TKD. Then I bought 3 pairs of shoes! 2 from Bata and 1 from C&K. At C&K we saw another friend of his. Joycelyn! LoL. She was also shopping for shoes. She got $20 voucher but she cannot wear most of the shoes in the shop. At least for now. She's pregnant you see, and her husband don't want her to wear heels. In the end also wear heels. Feng forbid her to wear until she gave birth. Feng's the God-father lah. Poor Joycelyn. They suggested to meetup on Thursday. Hmm..see how ba. ^_^

Damn tired. Reached home about 11pm. Need to bathe and all. ARGH! Me go koonz liaoz. Buaiz and nights!

20th September 2007, Thursday

So Housewife!

Today I feel so housewife. After work, I picked up Feng and went back home. Wanted to tabao, but I don't feel like eating outside food. At least when I cook, I know what is added. LoL. Asked Feng if he's hungry and since he said can wait, so drove home to cook. Once home, I put down the bag and started searching the fridge for food.

As I mentioned yesterday, I need veggies. So definitely got veggies. And meat. Know Feng recently not feeling good, so decided to fry him his favourite luncheon meat lor. So like all housewives, when I'm cooking, the man relaxes. Feng fed Cinnamon, played with her a little and fell asleep. All the while leaving me ALONE in the kitchen, not even peeking in to see how I was doing. @#$%^&

Woke him up at 730 when I finished cooking everything. Went to bathe and know what? He found excuse saying that he wana wait for me to eat together. Actually so he can sleep an extra 15min. LoL. I bathed finish le, he still sleeping. I had to get him his rice, before he finally woke up. WTF. Ji tao serve him lehz! Nvm. See what I've cooked today. Kekeke.



I'm so proud of myself. My veggie is clean and green. Fried veggie...qing cao bai cai. So nice. LoL. Feng finished all. Cause I don't want to keep. Kekeke. It's edible..please! I always score 70+ and above for my home econs practical de hor. And not forgetting mom has been training me to cook since young. =P



Yum yum!! Finally get to cook my bak chor today! Yeah!! It melted!! Kekeke. At this point it's boiling. And yupz. There's potato in it. Feng seemed to like this dish. Hmm...



Tadah! The end product. Damn..write too many reports liaoz. Anyway it's just simple dish. What you expect. I prepare, cook, and wash (some dishes) all in 45 minutes. Multitask lehz. LoL.



Feng's comfort food. Don't cook too much, cause my spare ribs from yesterday night still waiting for me. Fry fry fry...*hums*



Yeah! His comfort food. He told me morning ate liao. In the end he ate 3 of the biggest pieces. KNS.

And after dinner, what do I do? What all housewives do lor. What all housewives do lor. Watch TV. LoL. Then I cleaned Cinnamon's cage. As in really clean. Washed it with Dettol. Tomorrow my skin is gonna get it liao. Why lehz? Cause The Man is relaxing, watching me clean the cage. @#$%^&*

I told Feng to wash the dishes for me and told him to assemble the clean cage. Relaxed for a moment, and when I went back to the kitchen to clean my cups, I realised FENG HAD SCRATCHED MY PAN. *Faint* I started shouting at him. It's not so bad if he admits it straightaway or that the pan is clean. BUT THE PAN IS STILL OILY. Argh! Tried to give him BOD, so I picked up another pot, and guess what? Yes, it's oily also. In the end I washed both AGAIN. Feng is so going to kill me if he sees this. LoL.

Therefore I shall announce that Feng is banned from the kitchen; whether it's cooking, preparing or washing. Until he can prove to me that he can clean as well as I do. Considering that I rarely do it, yupz, he better learn it fast. LoL. Sent him to work and here I am, blogging! Cause tomorrow in office definitely very busy. Manager's flying off on Sunday, and my engineers are on leave...so I gotta give all the reports by tomorrow. Damn. Sianz. Cannot play game liaoz. Aiyah..me go play PSP le lah. Nights all...yellow face woman signing off. (Impossible! I can go into kitchen and walk out into the hall. 入的了厨房，进的了厅堂. I am a successful woman who juggles career and family! *Puke*) Ok ok..whatever lah. Ciaoz!

19th September 2007, Wednesday

I'm A Big Girl

I can look after myself. Yesterday I didn't cook dinner, since there was still some leftovers from Monday night. But tonight, have to cook. Despite the headache, I decided to cook my minced pork tonight. Came home and was sad to find out that the bak chor haven't defrost yet. Damn sad. Mom put all the pork into the freezer, then yesterday night I shifted one packet to the fridge. Sadly by the time I come back just now, haven't defrost. Damn sad. No bak chor to eat tonight.

Since having headache, must eat veggies. No lah..but mom cultivated this habit in me. I must eat veggies when I eat rice. I boiled some broccoli and cooked spare ribs. Boh bian. Sigh sigh.

When the spare ribs was at this stage, I just lowered down the fire and went to bathe. Don't worry lah, it's safe. The ribs were 3/4 cooked nia and I bathe pretty fast de ok!



Yeah the finished product! Very oily hor? Don't worry. The meat not oily de. Cause all drained to one side. Not bad lah, but then maybe not cooked cripsy enough.

Cannot finish my dinner though. It's difficult cooking for 1 pax. Seriously. One rice one dish, no variety. One rice 2 dishes, can't finish. I finished 2 plates of rice le, still can't finish the rice. In the end, threw the excess rice away when I was cleaning Cinnamon's cage. LoL. I managed to finish the veggie though. Meat still got left abit. Tomorrow night eat ba.

I'm a grown up girl. I clean my rabbit's cage every night, mop that portion where I dirtied, wash the dishes and watered the plants. Yeah. I can take care of myself. But then I still want my parents to come back. I missed them. They finally reach Greece at 630pm yesterday. After 21hrs of travelling. Tsk tsk tsk. LoL. 8 more days!! Gonna cook chicken wings this weekend. LoL. Can't wait!!

My Lazy Bunny

My baby, my pride. Kekeke. Aka my fat daughter. One tile is about 7 inches by 7 inches. So you can roughly gauge how big sized she really is. LoL. No I do not feed her with alot of stuff. I only feed her twice a day. With rabbit food. But she's cute ain't she? This picture I took when I let her out yesterday. LoL. She's trained not to pee on my floor. She only pees in her cage and on beds. Yes beds. LoL. She's one attitude rabbit. My Cinnamon. I love her.
